Welcome to The Federation of Hackbridge Primary School and Spencer Nursery School
Our two schools, Hackbridge Primary School and Spencer Nursery School, have been joined together in a federation since 1st November 2016, putting us in a unique position locally offering childcare and education across the 0-11 years age range.
Both schools have a longstanding history within the local community - Hackbridge Primary School having been in existence on the Hackbridge Corner site for over 100 years and Spencer Nursery School having been built in 1946. The newest addition to the schools' accommodation is the London Road site expansion of Hackbridge Primary School, which is a modern and eco-friendly award-winning Passivhaus Plus building, offering the additional benefit of a playing field which is utilised by both schools.
Across the federation, we aim to work in partnership with families to enable each child to reach the highest possible standards of learning, whilst encouraging everyone to develop an enthusiasm for life, together with a sense of pride in themselves, our school and our community. The schools' leadership team works across all three school sites to drive the provision of high quality childcare and education in collaboration with all of the staff working within the federation.

Hackbridge Primary School is in the process of expansion to four forms of entry (with the final year of expansion due to occur in September 2025), with attached nursery classes for 3-4 year olds on a term time only basis. More information about Hackbridge Primary School can be found here.

The Welfare of the Child is Paramount
Across The Federation of Hackbridge Primary School and Spencer Nursery School the safety and welfare of our children is of the utmost importance.
Because of the day-to-day contact with children, our staff are well placed to observe the outward signs of abuse. All adults working in the school must protect children from harm and abuse, including Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Radicalisation/Extremism (Prevent Duty), Children Missing Education (CME) and be aware that any pupil may be at risk of harm or abuse.
We have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of our pupils under the Education Act 2011 and Children Act 1989 through identifying any child welfare concerns and taking action to address them in partnership with families and other agencies where appropriate.
All staff have enhanced DBS status.
All new staff are recruited under our "Safer Recruitment" policy and procedures.
All staff at Spencer Nursery School are paediatric first aid trained.
A number of staff at Hackbridge Primary School are paediatric first aid trained.
